For a while, Michigan football wasn’t trending toward one of its eventual stars, cornerback Will Johnson. However, the Wolverines prevailed and couldn’t be happier with the legacy, former five-star.

Now considered perhaps the best cornerback in the country, Johnson ended up being the highest-rated player in the recently released EA Sports College Football 25 video game. He is honored by the distinction, but also says he needs to keep his game up to maintain his rating high.

From a video released by CBS Sports:

“No. 1 rated player. It’s crazy because it’s the first game to come back after – Denard was there,” Johnson said. “That was a while ago, ’14. First year back, I’m the highest rated player , it’s crazy. I have to get to 99! I have to maintain that rating, but the rating increases based on how your season goes. You can be 95 at the beginning of the year and at the end of the season, 89.”

Johnson enters his third year and could very well find himself at the top of the 2025 NFL Draft if he has a productive season similar to last year’s — his first year as a bona fide starter. If he develops that, he could find himself more than just a day one pick in the draft.
