After 17 years with the Alabama Crimson Tide football program, Nick Saban retired with one of the most impressive resumes in college football history. Although he remains linked to the university and participates in several television broadcasts, it is expected that he will be honored in a very special way.

Alabama’s home is Bryant-Denny Stadium, named after legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant and longtime University President George Denny. However, recent reporting by Tony Tsoukalas of Illustrated tide reveals that the school’s Board of Trustees is expected to vote on a resolution to rename the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Saban’s honor.

“Alabama is expected to dedicate the field inside Bryant-Denny Stadium to the former coach during a ceremony on September 7,” reports Tsoukalas. “While Bryant-Denny Stadium will still retain its name, the indoor playing surface is expected to be called Nick Saban Field.”

This honor is well-deserved, as Saban finished his Alabama career with six national championships, a number of other awards and titles, as well as a 201-29 overall record with the Crimson Tide.
