A USC defense that has been abysmal in recent years (remember Todd Orlando and Clancy Pendergast before Alex Grinch) will be challenged from the get-go in 2024. LSU brings plenty of weapons to Las Vegas for the big weekend showdown of the Labor Day, everyone is talking. While LSU is definitely a team worth taking seriously, it must also be said that the Tigers will have a hard time matching last year’s production under Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels. Is coach Brian Kelly concerned about this? Not based on what he said ESPN at SEC Media Days last week:

The Tigers led the nation in scoring offense (45.5 points) and total offense (543.5 yards) last season, but Daniels was taken second overall in the NFL draft and his two leading receivers, Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. ., were taken in No. 6 and No. 21 respectively.

That said, when Kelly was asked Monday by ESPN’s social media team at SEC Media Days what he was most looking forward to at Tiger Stadium this season, he said confidently: “Scoring so many touchdowns.”

There is no ambiguity there. Kelly thinks her attack is real once again. It’s up to USC to face the Tigers on September 1 in Sin City.
