Some things are bigger than politics and one of those things is Michigan-Ohio State rivalry. And a Daily Show correspondent and host chose a side.

At the Republican National Convention, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance was named the vice presidential candidate, and although he is from the Buckeye State and went to OSU, he made several overtures to Michigan during his acceptance speech. However, after that, he was seen singing OH-IO, and The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper was having none of it.

“If you’re wondering why the chant ‘OH-IO’ is OHIO, it’s because it’s the only word Ohio people know how to spell,” Klepper said. “Go blue, you redneck (expletive deleted)!”

Regardless of your political beliefs, this is a message we can all get behind.

If you haven’t seen the video, Klepper shows a photo of him wearing maize and blue on the field after Michigan football defeated the Buckeyes following their win at The Big House in 2021.

Klepper didn’t go to Michigan, but is a Kalamazoo native and attended Kalamazoo College.
