Brandon Inniss is entering his second season as part of Ohio State’s wide receiver room.
The former five-star will make his 2024 debut at 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 31 when Ohio State faces Akron. He is joined in OSU’s wide receiver room by players like Emeka Egbuka, Carnell Tate and five-star freshman Jeremiah Smith, among others.
Here’s what you should know about Inniss heading into the 2024 season:
Brandon Inniss was a five-star wide receiver in 2023
Inniss is an example of many five-star wide receivers who chose to play at Ohio State.
Inniss, a five-star wide receiver from American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was the No. 5 wide receiver and No. 35 overall player in the class of 2023. Inniss was the only five-star wide receiver to choose Ohio State in 2023 and was joined in class by Noah Rogers, Bryson Rodgers and Carnell Tate.
Between 2019 and 2024, Ohio State landed seven five-star wide receivers, including Smith and Mylan Graham in the 2024 recruiting class.
Brandon Inniss originally committed to Oklahoma
But Ohio State wasn’t Inniss’ first choice.
Although Inniss had the Buckeyes in his top 10 along with Oklahoma, Florida, Florida State, Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, Southern California and Mississippi, he chose to commit to the Sooners in August 2021.
He ended his commitment to Oklahoma just over three months later and committed to Ohio State in June 2022.
Brandon Inniss’ only reception at Ohio State was a touchdown
According to Pro Football Focus, Inniss played 98 snaps as a true freshman, including 59 snaps on kickoff and punt return. In his 39 snaps at wide receiver, Inniss made one catch. But it was a big problem.
In Ohio State’s 41–7 victory against Purdue on October 14, Inniss caught a 58-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Devin Brown with 7:35 left in the fourth quarter for the Buckeyes’ final touchdown of the day.
Inniss is one of six receivers to catch a touchdown for Ohio State in 2023, along with Marvin Harrison Jr., Cade Stover, Egbuka, Tate and Wow, Scott Jr.
Brandon Inniss was sidelined for much of Ohio State’s spring practice
Inniss spent most of spring camp sidelined with a fractured right foot.
At Ohio State’s spring game, Inniss used a walking book and rode a medical scooter on the sideline.
Inniss said he is back with full strength this summer and has been participating in the program’s strength and conditioning workouts.
