USC coach Lincoln Riley makes interesting comments about Alabama’s schedule

USC Trojans football coach Lincoln Riley mentioned the Alabama Crimson Tide at Big Ten Media Day. Riley credited the Crimson Tide with building a schedule that wins national championships and not a schedule designed for fan satisfaction.

Over the years, Alabama seems to schedule tough non-conference games to start the season. Former Alabama coach Nick Saban was known for challenging his team early in the season. Typically, it was effective because the team was able to make a strong statement in Week 1.

Riley and the Trojans will face a tougher schedule than usual as they transition to the Big Ten. The Trojans will face the LSU Tigers, Michigan wolverines, Penn State Nittany LionsIt is Wisconsin Badgers in the first six weeks of the 2024-2025 season.

Just like the Trojans, Alabama will also face a tough schedule this season. The Crimson Tide have games against the Wisconsin Badgers, Georgia BulldogsMissouri Tigers, Tennessee Volunteersand LSU Tigers.

It appears both programs were programmed with the intention of building a strong resume for consideration in the College Football Playoffs. Only time will tell if either team is ready to make the playoffs in December.
