Yahoo Fantasy analysts Andy Behrens and Dalton Del Don explain why the Colts’ second-year QB could have huge fantasy potential heading into the 2024 season.

Video transcript

I want to talk about Anthony Richardson, um, Indianapolis, like, what, you know, with this, this whole draft.

Um, we’ve seen the Panthers do great things for Bryce Young and really build around him.

Obviously, we saw the Bears do Caleb Williams a lot of favors in the draft.

I don’t, I don’t know if there was a quarterback whose team did more for them in the draft than Richardson, right?

They use four of the first five picks on some offensive linemen and some very talented receivers.

So they reinforced the reception room.

We think this offensive line is better than Richardson’s.

I mean, correct me if I’m wrong, I feel like Richardson only finished one game last year, right.

Um, and, and ended up with seven combined touchdowns.

I thought some of the things that Shane Steen’s team was showing us early in the season was a very friendly man, they really leaned into what Richardson was, they were ready to make it in the NFL.

Um, and I thought that thing would look great.

Um, and I know you’re optimistic about Richardson.

So tell me at what point again, maybe it’s the first week, maybe it’s the second week.

When, uh, when, when can we really feel good about this Colts offense?

And when will we know if, uh, if, if they really leveled up, we already know that he’s the truth.

So the question is: can he stay healthy?

I’m going to Week 11 with the Jets.

Sunday Night Football.

This will be fun.

I believe this is the Colts’ only primetime game.

The Jets have an incredible defense and I hope he’s healthy, you know, 11 weeks into the year.

But, um, yeah, a quick diet tribe, uh, fantasy points per drop is the best metric for predicting a quarterback’s fantasy points per game.

The following season, Richardson had the best record of the last five seasons, better than the career years of Hertz and Allen.

His averages through four quarters were 29.9 fantasy points, 55 rushing yards, seven design rush attempts.

I mean, he was on pace for, uh, the league record and projected that his sack rate was incredible during college.

Yes, I get it, it was a small sample where he continually got hurt, but now he has a whole year to learn the system Stein is talking about.

It is completely procedural.

I’ve seen that more and he was as good as decent, as a passer as a rookie.

They added the Mitchell ad.

Josh Josh Downs could be really, really good and now he’s a sophomore.

Michael Pittman is a star according to reception perception.

This offensive line is in the top three.

AR will also be a better year.

The Steen factor is so big that it goes back to all defenders.

He makes fantasy stars.

The Colts ranked in the top five in plays per game in all four games.

Richardson played last year.

Richardson is younger than Caleb Williams.

I mean, uh, said differently.

Here’s the deal.

I would easily bet Richardson against any quarterback in fantasy points per game if anyone took that bet.

So just bet for or against health.

And Jalen Hurtz is always battling injuries along the way, some dating unreported for 34 years.

He is constantly battling injuries.

He’s the 16th QB without T push touchdowns last year and they lost Jason Kelsey here, Josh Allen splits without Stephan Diggs, passing touchdowns per game dropped from 2.1 to 1.1 yards per attempt, 7.6 to 6.4 passing yards, 2.65 for 183 with no Digs.

I know there is noise in this and part of it was Allen being a younger quarterback, but he lost his best offensive player.

The Colts have the easiest schedule down the stretch.

Number one, Anthony Richardson.

My no, same, same as my rating on Anthony Richardson.

My number one QB
