Video transcript

I wouldn’t have been surprised just based on Jermaine Burton’s talent.

If you told me that all the on-field stuff wasn’t a thing and he went in the first round as opposed to the third round of the NFL draft, it wouldn’t shock me at all.

I loved him.

I think he could go through the entire route tree.

I think he is a player who can separate the three levels of defense.

He could beat the man, he could beat the zone.

I understand he’s going to be fighting for targets on a weekly basis with Jamar Chase and T Higgins and one of those players has to step up for that kind of thing to come to fruition.

But Jermaine Burt, being the guy that I am, I was still like, even if he’s not this year’s Puka Nua, I still think he’s going to be a great value in drafts again.

You don’t go out and pick a player like Jermaine Burton in the third round and everyone has seen the clips.

Zach Taylor was on cloud nine pounding the table, ecstatic that he had made it, that he had called him in and had him in the room.

I think Jermaine Burton is a guy that we’re not fully prepared on what his upside might be for targets and his upside for just this season, even if Chase et stay healthy, I think if you’re projecting, you know, a young guy with that kind of mentality, you go into a building like Cincinnati where you have a central guiding figure there in Joe Burrow, it’s like Damian Harris said it really well in our draft program, we were talking about it like they have that kind of quarterback that can take a receiver like this and say, hey, man, like, I need you like I, I need, look, Tyler Boyd is out like there’s an opportunity here, you want to come, be great, like be great here and if, if Burton wants to be great, this is the kind of depth chart and ecosystem to do it.

I just think the Bengals stole a player that I, again, had a bar in the first round, in the second round, just because of the talent profile and they took him in the third round.

If he had gotten draft capital again, Harmon, we’d be talking about him in a different light the last three years, Tyler Boyd 94 82 98 targets.

As if there is opportunity available in this offense even if the two best players remain healthy
