And their rookie first-round receiver, Malik Nabers, was involved yesterday, trading punches with Kerby Joseph.

New York running back Devin Singletary ran to support his teammate and appeared to throw a punch.

The teams face each other on the field in tomorrow’s pre-season opener, in what could be a tight contest.

Jones was only cleared to play football days before camp after his return to action from a torn ACL.

But he has not been taking it easy in trying to justify his mega-money contract.

Giants coach Brian Daboll was upset with Lions defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike for hitting Jones’ arm during a throwing play.

Jones, like all quarterbacks in practice games, wore a red non-contact jersey.

In footage widely shared online, Jones appears to shove Lions forward Alim McNeill, sparking a complete melee.

“I appreciate [Daboll’s support],” Jones told reporters after practice, via ESPN.

“This is not something that normally happens in a practical situation.

“But it’s a competitive practice and the guys are trying hard.”

“Daniel was nervous about it. Was Daniel outside?” Giants edge rusher Brian Burns added after the chaotic scenes.

“Yeah. I’ll need him to back it up. Let your O-line handle it.”

“But Daniel, he’s a competitor, man. He is a fighter.

“So I don’t expect anything less from him. But I don’t need him in this. I don’t need him to get hit. Keep him healthy.”
