NFL icon Tom Brady recently celebrated his 47th birthday by showing off his insane physique.

And the New England Patriots legend has stayed in NFL shape as he approaches his fifties by maintaining his notoriously strict diet.

Brady surprised fans with a shirtless selfie as he celebrated his birthday while on vacation with his family in Sardinia.

“Birthday selfie, new tradition!” he told his 14 million Instagram followers.

“Tom is a thirsty forty-something, I love seeing that,” joked one fan.

Since retiring, the NFL legend has worked hard to maintain his incredibly muscular body as he transitions into the next phase of his life.

Brady’s eating regimen consists of four prohibited foods: dairy, white sugar, white flour, and caffeine.

He also avoids nightshade vegetables — like peppers and tomatoes — and even strawberries.

“I don’t think it’s a strict regime,” Brady told People.

“I think it’s just trying to make healthy choices that allow me to live the life I want.”

The former NFL star was widely known for his TB12 method while playing and even created a business and brand.

TB12 is a plant-based, high-protein diet that excludes gluten, dairy, corn, soy, MSG, coffee, alcohol, GMOs, sugar, trans fats, overly processed foods and more.

Now, Chicago Bears star Caleb Williams is following in Brady’s footsteps by adopting the TB12 method.

Since retiring, Brady has been open about his desire to spend more time with his children and his belief that eating healthy is essential.

“I think what I put in my body is very important,” he says.

“My body was my possession… I still want to keep it.

“I developed so many healthy habits. I just want to keep them.”

The NFL icon has eased his strict diet by revealing that he now occasionally eats ice cream – but only if it’s a high-quality product.

“My problem is that if I’m going to have ice cream, I want to have good ice cream,” he told People.

“I’m not buying shitty ice cream from 7-Eleven.

“I want ice cream. Here we go. You know what I mean? This is how you should do it.”

Brady says his tastes are the result of years of conditioning — and he can’t change his eating habits.

“I ate the way I ate because it helped me perform. So it’s like, why change?” says Brady.

“I couldn’t even go back to eating the bad food that I might have eaten in the past just because I wouldn’t feel good.”

Brady added that spending quality time with his kids is one of the main reasons he stays fit and healthy.

“My physical body is very important to me. I trusted him for so long to perform, and I still do because I love being active,” he said.

“So it’s like when I’m with my kids, I want to ski with them. I want to be on the boards, I want to surf with them.

“I want to play golf, and if my son wants to play basketball, I want to play basketball with him, but I don’t want to be in pain.

Tom Brady’s domino effect

Tom Brady will take his place on Fox’s top NFL announcing team alongside Kevin Burkhardt.

And its arrival on the network triggered a domino effect, with every other announcer moving down one position.

This means that Fox’s NFL coverage in 2024 will feature entirely new broadcast pairs.

Greg Olsen, who previously worked alongside Burkhardt, will now be part of the second announcing team with Joe Davis.

Fox’s other pairs for 2024 are:

  • Adam Amin-Mark Sanchez
  • Kenny Albert-Jon Vilma
  • Kevin Kugler-Daryl Johnston
  • Chris Myers-Mark Schlereth

“So I still focus a lot of time on my physical body and my mental health.”

Brady says he doesn’t follow a regimented gym routine.

Instead, he’s enjoying the outdoor lifestyle in Miami.

“The quality of life in Florida is very good,” Brady added.

“It’s all the outdoor activities that I love. And so being in the water is great.

“I live on a golf course, where I love to just hang out – even if for 20 minutes, just chipping a few balls. I have to be very active.”

He continued: “I’m still like a 14-year-old kid, I just have all this energy, and I’ll take a few swings, and then I’ll come home and swim, and then I’ll work out, and the kids go home. “

Brady is enjoying the Paris Olympics this summer while moves on to a new career as an analyst for Fox Sports.

The NFL icon will make his Fox Sports broadcast debut in Week 1 of the upcoming NFL season.

His first game as a call-up will be between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns, on September 7th.
