Bennett threw four interceptions in his first game back from a year away from the NFL.

But he recovered late in the fourth quarter, completing a six-yard touchdown pass to Miller Forristal with four seconds remaining.

Los Angeles defeated the Cowboys 13-12 in the preseason opener for both teams.

After the game, Bennett talked about his game work.

“That was probably the weirdest game I’ve been a part of. But today I told myself that we will roll with the punches,” he told reporters, via ESPN.

“My goal was not to make mental mistakes.

“It was basically executing the offense correctly.

“There were some lapses, obviously, but in the end it was get the ball in the end zone or lose, and I think everyone fought to do that.”

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound quarterback was drafted by the Rams in the 2023 fourth round NFL Draft.

Los Angeles coach Sean McVay admitted that Bennett needs to work on his decision-making, but that he wasn’t shocked by his play in pursuit of the win.

“Obviously, I want to be able to minimize rotations, but it didn’t really surprise me,” McVay said.

“We were talking on the headset as coaches.

“It’s like, you know what? He’s the kind of guy who’s probably going to lead us on a game-winning touchdown, and Stetson did a great job.”

The Rams will play their second preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers next weekend.
