The San Francisco 49ers looked to revive the career of a veteran wide receiver as they continued to trade star Brandon Aiyuk.

In a corresponding roster move, the 49ers released injured wide receiver Frank Darby.

San Francisco added Chosen as Aiyuk remains in training camp while seeking a long-term contract.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters what he thinks about Chosen.

“I’ve always been a fan of his, his entire career,” Shanahan said Monday, via NBC Sports. “Especially going back to the Jets. Just the speed he had, the way he played for a guy who can run so fast.

“I always thought he played physical, ran his routes very well. When you’re a very good runner, continuous runner, but you can also run incline, it’s a problem.

“I love that he has some experience in our offense, just from being at Miami last year.

“We had him in training last week and he looked like what we’ve seen from Chosen in the past.

“We are excited to have him on board at this time.”

Carolina traded him to the Arizona Cardinals the following season.

The pick totaled 408 yards in 25 games in 2022-23.

The veteran will try to open up space for the 49ers, led by two stars Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel.

San Francisco will face the New York Jets in the season opener at home on Monday night Soccer on September 9th.
