ESPN host Matt Barrie insisted on First Take that Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is the best player in the NFL.

And Barrie is certain that despite the pure brilliance of Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, Jackson is the best in every way.
Fans were quick to respond on X, the site formerly known as Twitter.
And there is no doubt that opinions are strong on both sides of the debate.
Barrie is the stand-in presenter for First Take and is not a man shy about his takes.
“I don’t care about the receiver, the running back, anyone on the field, Lamar Jackson is the best player on the field,” Barrie said.
“It turns out (he) can throw a football 200 feet while doing this.
“Patrick Mahomes can play with his feet, he’s an MVP, he wins Super Bowls, he’s the best quarterback in the NFL.
“But in terms of best player, there’s not a guy on your team in this league who is the best player on the team, who can throw a football 60 yards rushing.

“That’s why, for me, Lamar Jackson, if we’re talking about the (best) player, it’s him, and it’s not even close.”
Fans gave their verdicts on this uncompromising approach and some agreed.
“Pat can’t do the things Lamar can on the field, I don’t disagree. Take Andy away from Pat and I don’t think he’s as good,” said one fan.
“Facts, put Mahomes or Lamar on the worst team in the NFL and who do you think has the biggest impact,” said another fan.
“It’s a really good shout, Jackson can do everything and do it well,” posted a third fan.
But some fans didn’t accept Barrie’s verdict, nailing their colors to Mahomes’ flagpole.
“There is no evidence that Lamar is the best player. Patrick Mahomes is obviously the best player, no matter whose receiver Patrick Mahomes finds a way,” said one fan.
