After pioneering surgery and a long recovery, Rodgers is in the building and continuing his rehab ahead of what he certainly hopes will be a comeback year for good.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Jets coach Robert Saleh gave insight into Rodgers’ recovery.

“He’s here. He’s working,” Saleh said.

“The guy can still do it. Obviously, he’s still working on rehab, but there’s no problem with the path he’s on.”

Once Rodgers is back to full strength, he will be working alongside several new teammates.

The Jets went offensive in the NFL Draft, bringing in offensive tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu 11th overall out of Penn State.

Western Kentucky wideout Malachi Corley was added in the third round before Wisconsin running back Braelon Allen joined the mix in the fourth.

Quarterback Jordan Travis was drafted in the fifth round to back up Rodgers following the departure of Zach Wilson, who was traded to the Denver Broncos this offseason.

The running backs room acquired another new weapon in South Dakota State’s Isaiah Davis in that same round, before the focus turned to defense with cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers out of the CFL.

With the final pick in the draft, safety Jaylen Key was signed, earning him the title of Mr. Basketball.

Rodgers is currently under contract through the 2025 season, when he will be 42 years old.

As such, the addition of Travis could be interesting in the future as a potential heir apparent.

“He’s a tremendous athlete. We feel like he’s kind of a ball of clay,” Saleh said.

He added that they believe there is a lot to “build on” with Travis, like his athleticism, adding that there is a lot of “excitement around that.”

During his six-year college career, Travis made 49 starts, passing for 8,715 yards and 66 touchdowns, while rushing for another 1,950 yards and 31 touchdowns.

As Travis develops behind Rodgers, the veteran’s focus could be on making the most of his new-look offense.

Along with their rookie additions, the Jets also made several high-profile signings in free agency.

The guy can still shoot. Obviously, he is still working on his rehabilitation, but there are no problems with the trajectory he is on.
