The New England Patriots have cut quarterback Nathan Rourke.
The Patriots’ quarterback room is coming together after drafting Drake Maye with the third overall pick.
Rourke, 25, went undrafted out of Ohio in 2021 and was selected in the second round of the 2020 CFL Draft.
Rourke spent three seasons at Ohio, passing for 7,457 yards, 60 touchdowns and just 20 interceptions.
He went on to play in the CFL with the British Columbia Lions, where he spent two seasons and started 12 games.
In those 12 games, Rourke passed for 4,103 yards with 28 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
Rourke opted to make the jump to the NFL in 2023, signing with the Jaguars after attracting interest from several teams.
He made the practice squad but was later released and claimed off waivers by the Patriots.
The Patriots no longer needed Rourke after signing two quarterbacks and signing one as a free agent.
Their QB room now consists of Maye, Jacoby Brissett, Bailey Zappe and Joe Milton.

Maye is the presumed starter for the 2024 season, being selected with the third overall pick.
However, head coach Jerod Mayo said there will be an open competition for the starting job during training camp.
“Look, Jacoby understands, he’s a mentor,” Mayo told Cameron Wolfe of NFL.com.
“He is very smart, has great leadership skills and I hope Drake can learn something from him too.
“I would say we’re going to compete all spring, we’re going to compete during training camp and the best player will start.”
Brissett and Maye are probably guaranteed to make the Patriots’ roster, but Milton and Zappe could be gone by the time the season rolls around.
