KAY Adams praised the Chicago Bears’ transformation thanks to general manager Ryan Poles.
With the NFL Draft and the first wave of free agency in the rearview mirror, Adams took a moment on the broadcast of his FanDuel Up And Adams TV show to reflect on the state of his beloved Bears.
She accumulated praise about the Poles, who she considers “transformed this team”.
In a side-by-side chart, Adams compared the starting players from Ryan Pace’s final game as Bears general manager in the final game of the 2021 season compared to the expected starters next season.
Led by quarterback Andy Dalton, Pace’s team included David Montgomery, Allen Robinson, Darnell Mooney, Cole Kmet and Jesse James.
By comparison, now led by first overall draft pick Caleb Williams, the offense looks almost entirely different and largely upgraded, including D’Andre Swift, DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze and Kmet.
“Overall, 20 of the Bears’ projected 22 starters for next year are completely different than the ones we saw take the field in Pace’s final game,” Adams said.
She later called Poles “the best plastic surgeon in the game,” saying he “did the best facelift.”
“This is next-level reconstructive surgery.
“And although it hasn’t yet produced results on the field, you have to admire the Poles’ aggressiveness in overhauling everything and changing the mood.”

Since taking over the Bears in 2022, the Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus have led Chicago to records of 3-14 and 7-10.
The 2024 Bears will be a very different team than the last two seasons, largely because of the addition of former Heisman Trophy winner Williams.
In a recent interview on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show, Poles admitted that Williams’ college film “stood out”, adding that it “captured my heart from the start”.
“But as we spent more time with Caleb, did our homework and got to know each other, it became clearer and clearer. [that he would be the first pick],” he said.
The Poles also admitted that they had not informed Williams before the Draft that he would be their top pick, joking: “I think he knew.”
As for Odunze’s addition ninth overall, the Poles said the former Washington player “was at the top of our list.”
Poles explained that there are “certain guys you don’t pass up,” saying, “It’s hard to find a guy that big and talented as a receiver.
“And on top of that, he’s an incredible human being too.”
The rookie GM said he was “excited” about his offense’s prospects next season after making so many high-profile additions.
Although it hasn’t produced results on the field yet, you have to admire the Poles’ aggressiveness in reformulating everything and changing the atmosphere.

“I think we hit all levels in terms of weapons on offense,” Poles said, adding, “So we’re excited.”
The 2024 Bears will try to become the first team since head coach Matt Nagy in 2018 to finish with a winning record.
In the last 10 seasons, Chicago has had just one winning season.
