JERRY RICE was not a happy man after the NFL Draft.

The Hall of Famer, 61, watched his son Brenden fall to the seventh round.

USC wideout Rice, 22, was projected to be snapped up in the middle rounds in many simulations.

His name ended up being called by the Los Angeles Chargers. Coach Jim Harbaugh claims he had a third- to fourth-round grade.

“My dad was hot,” Rice said via ESPN.

“You guys take the flash as a humble guy, right?

“I, he said, ‘Of course not, let’s take it to a different level. These guys are going to feel us.'”

Rice was the 32nd receiver taken out of the 35.

He got the call from the Chargers while driving home from his former teammate’s funeral.

“It was like a blessing from God because he allowed me to move on and grieve the death of my friend,” Rice said.

“And after that go ahead and be happy, and it was a glorious day.”

The Chargers traded Keenan Allen to the Chicago Bears and released Mike Williams – now with the New York Jets.

Harbaugh is expected to run the ball a lot, but there will be plenty of targets for Rice and second-round pick Ladd McConkey to compete against.

Rice is excited to catch passes from Justin Herbert after enjoying playing with No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams in college.

“I’m in the best position possible to move forward, make my mark and leave my own legacy,” he said.

“I went from Caleb Williams to Justin Herbert and I’m in a room that will allow me to compete day in and day out.

“It all depends on me, so if you guys don’t see me in the fall, that’s on me.

What we already know

ONLY one matchup has been confirmed for the 2024 NFL regular season so far.

That’s the Week 1 matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers on Friday, September 6th.

The game will be played at Arena Corinthians in São Paulo, Brazil, and will be broadcast live on Peacock across the United States.

We also know the identity of the home teams in the three games in London, England, and one in Munich, Germany.

The Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings will host games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while the other home team in London will be the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium.

The Carolina Panthers are also confirmed for the game at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

“And if you see me out there, then I put in the work necessary to do my best and go out there and produce.”

Jerry was known for his polished routes, but Brenden is more of a physical beast at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds.

“I feel like we’re right next to each other,” Rice said when asked if he was better than his father at this stage in their careers.

“I’m faster and I heard his rookie season in the NFL wasn’t good. I have to beat him.”

Jerry played 16 games as a rookie and had 49 receptions for 927 yards and three touchdowns.
