The 2024 NFL season will see Tom Brady make his long-awaited debut on Fox Sports.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion signed a 10-year contract worth an estimated $375 million with the network in 2022.

Now, a year after Brady’s retirement from the NFL, the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback is heading to the booth.

On stage alongside former NFL legend Michael Strahan, the pair revealed to the audience that Brady’s first game as part of their main announcing team will see him cover the Dallas Cowboys against the Cleveland Browns.

This will be the first time NFL on Fox has opened a season with a Cowboys game in five years.

“Obviously, having the Cowboys is a big draw as America’s team,” Brady said.

“It’s going to be a little hard for me to say that all the time.

“They were the competition for a long time, but in this new role, I know the Cowboys, how important they are to this network.

“They have great stories. Come on, Dak Prescott, let’s see if he can finally survive…

“Did it just slip away?”

Brady’s comment about the Cowboys quarterback — likely in reference to his 2-5 postseason record — didn’t go unnoticed by fans on X, formerly known as Twitter.

One news reporter claimed they felt Brady had taken “a jab” at Prescott, leading to a variety of responses from fans.

‘They should take that ring off,’ NFL fans say after Tom Brady jokingly admits to Deflategate during roast

“Not a blow. He just spoke [the] true,” said one of them.

“That doesn’t seem like much of a scam,” commented a second.

While a third responded: “Dak Prescott was the last QB to beat Tom Brady before he retired btw.”

Brady’s final game came in the 2022 Wildcard Round, where his Buccaneers were defeated by the Cowboys 31-14.

However, this marked Brady’s first career loss against Dallas, having gone 7-0 against Jerry Jones’ team since 2003.

He and Prescott have faced each other on four occasions, including losing in the 2022 postseason.

This will be a pivotal season for Prescott, who enters the final year of his current four-year, $160 million contract.

Star CeeDee Lamb, linebacker Micah Parsons and head coach Mike McCarthy are also set for new contracts after the 2024 season.

“There were rumors that Coach Belichick would be here tonight. Turns out he has some time on his hands. Look, at least when I got fired, someone else wanted me.”

As for Cleveland, they will be led by Deshaun Watson for the third of his five-year, $230 million contract.

These two teams last met in 2020, with Cleveland winning 49-38.

Brady will be joined in the booth by Kevin Burkhardt for this game on September 8th at 4:25 pm ET.
