Edelman, a member of the Patriots dynasty, won three Super Bowls with Tom Brady and was named Super Bowl MVP in 2019.

“I think you’re a Hall of Famer,” McAfee told Edelman.

“Not just because of what you did as a wide receiver for the New England Patriots.

“Punt returner, you were a nightmare. You were. You were an absolute nightmare.

“And you played defense and made some of the greatest plays in NFL history. And you have rings.”

Edelman spent 11 years in the NFL, all with the Patriots, and doesn’t have the flashiest numbers.

He racked up 6,822 yards and 36 touchdowns in the regular season.

Edelman also returned four punts for touchdowns during his career and added 1,986 yards on those returns.

Even he admits his regular season numbers aren’t flashy, but he thinks his playoff production should be what matters.

“Maybe I didn’t have the regular season numbers for the Hall of Famer, but the postseason is different,” Edelman said.

“It’s hard to get stats when you’re outscoring everyone and running out in the second half.”

In 19 career playoff games, Edelman has 118 receptions for 1,442 yards and six touchdowns.

While McAfee thinks Edelman is a Hall of Famer, NFL fans had a completely different opinion and shared their comments.

“Sorry, I’m not a HOFer, he was decisive in the playoffs, but that’s easier when he was the 3rd or 4th priority for the defense,” said one fan.

“Not a HOFer. There is nothing wrong with the ‘Hall of Very Good,’” said another fan.

Pat McAfee’s Playing Days

Pat McAfee had a hugely successful period before switching to a career in media.

The talk show star served as a punter in the NFL for eight seasons from 2009 to 2016.

He was a seventh-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft out of West Virginia and spent his entire career with the Indianapolis Colts.

The former punter was named to the Pro Bowl in 2014 and 2016, and was also a first-team All-Pro in 2014.

McAfee holds the NFL’s single record for highest career net punting yardage average at 41.4 yards, while his longest punt of all time was 74.

“36 touchdowns in 12 years with Tom Brady as your QB,” said a third fan.

“Yeah that’s gonna be a no from me man,” said a fourth fan.

“He doesn’t belong in the hall of fame just because he was on TV with that camera angle,” said a fifth fan.

Edelman retired after the 2020 season and would be eligible for the Hall of Fame after the 2025 season.

He’s very likely not a Hall of Famer, but he was one of the biggest impacts on some of Tom Brady’s best Super Bowl teams.
