A former teammate of Tom Brady has revealed an unusual NFL pregame ritual the New England Patriots legend did during his playing days.
Three-time Super Bowl champion wide receiver Julian Edelman told the story during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday.

Fox NFL analyst star Edelman appeared on McAfee’s hit ESPN show.
They discussed Brady and his former coach and business partner Alex Guerrero.
During Brady’s final days with the Patriots, Guerrero gave him alternative medicine methods and dietary restrictions.
Edelman, who played with Brady from 2009 to 2020, noticed the dietary measures taken by the NFL icon.
The 37-year-old revealed a story about Brady and what he did before games to test his strength in not eating unhealthy foods.
“Tom Brady would sit and smell the chicken wings before the game while the offensive linemen ate them,” Edelman said.
“You know he loved a chicken wing, but he had to use that mental toughness and just give it a whiff.
“He preaches TB12 shit, but he lives it.

“That’s why you respect him.”
This caused McAfee and his co-host AJ Hawk to laugh hysterically.
Guerrero and Brady created the TB12 Method and the TB12 business during the latter’s tenure with the Patriots.
But tensions rose between Brady and New England coach Bill Belichick, in part because of Guerrero’s presence on the team.
Belichick ended up depriving Guerrero of the team privileges the Patriots had previously granted him.
During Brady’s Netflix discussion earlier this month, Belichick criticized Brady over his relationship with Guerrero.

“People said Tom and I fought a lot, and in some ways that was true,” Belichick said.
“But not really. It was hard to go head to head with Tom because he was so hot on Alex Guerrero.”
Edelman also participated in the Netflix roast.
He won three Super Bowls with Brady.
Edelman retired after the 2020 season and joined Fox.
Brady retired after the 2022 season and will be teammates with Edelman.
The NFL icon will be the lead commentator on Fox NFL TV for the 2024-25 season and will begin his 10-year, $375 million broadcast contract.
