TREVOR Lawrence appears ready to stay with the Jacksonville Jaguars for a long time.

One of the most highly touted quarterbacks in recent memory, Lawrence, now 24, was selected first overall by the Jaguars in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Lawrence’s NFL career got off to a rocky start during head coach Urban Meyer’s disastrous but brief tenure at EverBank Stadium in 2021.

Meyer went 2-11 with the Jags before being fired, with interim head coach Darrell Bevell finishing the season 1-3.

During his rookie season, Lawrence led the league with 17 interceptions, just 12 touchdowns and 3,641 yards in what was the NFL’s lowest-scoring offense.

Replaced by Super Bowl-winning coach Doug Pederson the following season, Lawrence and the Jaguars bounced back quickly.

Lawrence threw for 4,113 yards, 25 touchdowns and just eight interceptions while going 9-8 and reaching the playoffs, where the former Clemson star earned his first postseason victory.

The Jaguars went 9-8 again the following season, but failed to make the Playoffs.

In 16 games, Lawrence racked up 4,016 yards, 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Now entering the penultimate year of his rookie contract, with the team having activated his fifth-year option, the Jaguars are reportedly looking to get a deal done sooner rather than later.

“I’m told that negotiations have been progressing quite well, that there’s certainly hope on both sides that they can get this done,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said on SportsCenter, via Bleacher Report.

“He’s three years into his rookie contract, so it’s not urgent to have to do that at this point, but Jacksonville, I’m told, is pretty committed to trying to do that.

Tom Brady may be barred from the Fox broadcast booth for the team’s NFL games due to a potential ‘conflict of interest’

“This will also be a deal probably above the $50 million range, but everyone is all in on Lawrence, they’re talking.”

Fellow starting quarterbacks Dak Prescott, Jordan Love and Tua Tagovailoa are slated to hit free agency after this season, and given the upward trend in NFL contracts, putting pen to paper sooner could save the Jaguars a lot of money.

But the Jaguars wouldn’t be the first team to guarantee a new contract for their starter this offseason.

Earlier in the offseason, Kirk Cousins showed the exorbitant value of a proven NFL starter when he signed a four-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons worth $180 million.

Most recently, the Detroit Lions and Jared Goff agreed to terms on a four-year, $212 million contract.

As for Lawrence, it appears discussions with Jacksonville have been going on for at least a month.

“As far as that goes right now, it’s not really my focus,” he said in April, via Professional football talk.

“I would obviously love to be a Jaguar for as long as possible.
