Dell was briefly hospitalized after being caught in the crossfire when an armed teenager injured a total of 10 people.

But despite that traumatic experience and the injury, Dell returned to Houston to participate in OTAs on Tuesday.

If that wasn’t notable enough, Dell was already recovering from a fractured fibula suffered in December while playing against the Denver Broncos.

Despite having had so much to overcome, Dell was back to his old self on Tuesday as clips circulated on social media showing him in action.

“I’m happy to have Tank back,” coach DeMeco Ryans told reporters.

“He went through a very tragic situation.

“We are very happy that he is here, happy that he is back able to do what he loves, which is playing football.

“It’s fun to watch him run. Being the same player as before, making plays and being a dynamic player for us.

“Everyone is excited to see Tank.”

And that excitement was evident when safety Jalen Pitre was asked about his opinion on Dell’s return.

“It’s always good to see Tank back,” he said.

“We saw the work he did. Everything he went through.

“It’s always inspiring to see someone fight back and win. Because he’s a true competitor and a guy who makes our team better.

“So I’m glad he’s back. And it definitely makes me better to have to face him on a daily basis.”

Dell was one of the standout rookies of the 2023 season, forming an early and impressive connection with rookie quarterback CJ Stroud.

In 11 games, Dell racked up 709 yards and seven touchdowns, playing a major role in Houston’s 10-7 record.

Now he returns to an offense that ramped up in the offseason, adding Pro Bowl talents like running back Joe Mixon and wideout Stefon Diggs.

They also added running back Jawhar Jordan and tight end Cade Stover via the draft.
