NFL commissioner Roger Goodell again suggested that the regular season could eventually be expanded to 18 games.
Before the spring league meeting concluded in Nashville, Tennesee, Commish was asked about the feasibility of expanding the schedule after pitching the idea on The Pat McAfee Show last month.

Goodell, 65, clarified that the NFL was not close to adding another week to the schedule after moving to a 17-game regular season in 2021.
But he said the change is something league executives could consider in the future.
“I wasn’t suggesting something we were actively thinking about,” the commissioner said Wednesday.
“It’s something we think about in a long-term context.”
Goodell acknowledged that a 17-game schedule already makes the regular season a long haul.
He added that the NFL prioritizes player safety and ensures the players’ association is on board whenever any significant reforms are considered — two vital factors in the process.
“But also, thirdly, and this is not necessarily in order, is the quality of our game,” he continued.
“We would do this in the context of reducing the number of pre-season games.

“We think it’s a good trade, fewer preseason games and more regular season games.
“I think almost everyone would think this would be beneficial.
“But again, those other two factors are important.”
Goodell added that adding the 18th regular season game is a possibility due to the appetite for more football among NFL fans.
“Making sure we are doing everything we can to bring our fans what they want,” the commissioner said.
