The NFL is on the move again — and it could soon be coming to a city near you.
League executives are considering games in Australia and Abu Dhabi, for Front-office sports.
The NFL International Series has been taking football on the road since the first London Games in 2007.
In 2024, five regular season games will be played in England, Germany and Brazil.
“Bringing the NFL to new continents, countries and cities around the world is a critical element of our plan to continue to grow the game globally,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said last fall.
From the 2025 season onwards, there may be up to 9 games played internationally, according to the FOS report.
NFL owners met in Nashville this week with possible games Down Under on the agenda.
“Yes, we are having these conversations in Australia,” revealed NFL Executive Vice President of Club Business, International and League Events, Peter O’Reilly.
“Australia is part of a set – and it is not a small set – of markets that we are analyzing.
“And obviously Australia is an important market for us.”

The NFL is also looking at opportunities elsewhere in Europe and the Middle East.
France, Ireland, Italy, Japan and Abu Dhabi were considered possible locations for an International Series, according to The New York Times.
“When you start talking about Asia, the Pacific and Australia, you talk about distance and logistics and the football component of that,” O’Reilly added.
“So these factors are real. But our role is to really look across the globe, see where the fan base is strong and do the due diligence, do the assessments.”
The league’s next confirmed new venue is the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, Spain.
Bosses announced in February that the NFL would head to Spain for the first time in the 2025 season.
“Playing a game in Madrid in 2025 highlights the continued expansion of the league’s global presence and accelerated ambitions to bring our game to more fans around the world,” said Goodell.
