FORMER Georgia Bulldogs star Stetson Bennett opened up about his season-long absence.
The 26-year-old Los Angeles Rams quarterback missed the entire 2023 campaign.
Bennett was selected in the fourth round of last year’s NFL Draft.
The two-time national champion found fame at Georgia after beginning his college career as a walk-on.
But Bennett’s career has stalled since draft night, with his only performance for the Rams in the preseason last August.
He was unexpectedly placed on the reserve/non-football illness list just days before the start of the 2023 season.
The player returned to the Rams building last month and was spotted on the training field.
“I was home,” Bennett told reporters Tuesday after being asked about his absence last season.
“As far as what led up to this, what happened and everything, I think we’re going to keep it internal.
“But it was good. I came home and thank God [general manager] Les Snead and Coach McVay allowed me to do that.”

When asked if the move was to protect his mental health, he added: “Yes, I would say that.
“It was great to get back to football. It’s what I love.”
Coach McVay revealed last month that Bennett returned to the Rams building looking “good.”
“He’s been attentive in meetings,” McVay added.
“I’m looking forward to next week to be able to get out on the grass with all of our players and Stetson being one of them.”
Just weeks before the 2023 Draft, Bennett was arrested on public intoxication charges following an incident in Dallas, Texas.
He was seen in January knocking on the doors of an apartment building at 6 a.m., claiming he was trying to wake up a friend, according to the newspaper. Daily Mail.
