College football fans shared their disgust that a historic rivalry game was not broadcast live on television.
It was revealed on Thursday that the Litter The Cup between the Washington Huskies and Washington State University Cougars will only be available on a streaming platform.

On Thursday, the start times and television Broadcast channels for Washington’s first three games of the 2024 college football season have been announced by the Big Ten.
In the second game, the Huskies and Cougars will compete in the 116th Apple Cup at 12:30 pm on September 14th at Lumen Field.
The stadium is home to the Seattle Seahawks and will function as a neutral site despite being across town from Washington’s Husky Stadium and across state from the Cougars’ campus in Pullman.
However, the game will be broadcast on NBC’s Peacock streaming service.

Fans were irate that they had to pay extra to watch the rivalry game.
“The Apple Cup is something that sneakily attracts mass viewership and interest (still!) and we practically killed it thanks to TV execs who don’t understand the sport,” wrote one.
“This is so stupid,” commented another.
“The Apple Cup being just Peacock is going to piss a lot of people off haha,” added a third.

This won’t be the first time Washington has been part of a Peacock broadcast.
Last season, the Washington-Michigan State game was broadcast on the Peacock Network.
The 2024 Apple Cup will be the first game of a five-year agreement between Washington and Washington State to extend the interstate rivalry through at least the 2028 campaign.
The 2024 season will be the first that Washington will be in the Big Ten conference.
Washington and Washington State had been in the same conference since 1961.
The Apple Cup was first played in 1900, 124 years ago.

The matchup usually occurs in the final game of the regular season for both teams.
The Big Ten also announced other exclusive Peacock broadcasts for the conference.
On September 7, Peacock will broadcast Rhode Island at Minnesota at noon ET, as well as the Boise State-Oregon matchup at 10 p.m. ET.
College Football Changing in 2024
The move of Oklahoma and Texas from the Big 12 to the SEC is one of the biggest changes in college football in recent memory.
And that set off a chain reaction that left the Pac-12 conference decimated.
The Pac-12 has lost 10 of its 12 members and is down to just Oregon and Washington states.
Four of those teams are headed to the Big 12 – Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah.
Four others go to the Big 10 – Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington.
And the other two teams, California and Stanford, will participate in the ACC conference.
No team has left the SEC, Big Ten or ACC.
The following week, on September 14, Peacock will broadcast Central Michigan in Illinois at noon ET.
