SPORTS presenter Colin Cowherd has recalled how desperate he was to sign Shannon Sharpe last year.
And Cowherd even considered buying Sharpe a car or other luxury gift to try to persuade him.

Cowherd, 60, hosts his own show on FS1 and remembers Sharpe leaving the network.
The former NFL star finished his time on Undisputed alongside Skip Bayless and joined Stephen A. Smith on ESPN’s First Take.
Cowherd started his own podcast network called The Volume in 2021 and couldn’t believe his former Fox colleague was a free agent.
In addition to Undisputed, Sharpe had his own podcast called Club Shay Shay.
He decided to take it to Cowherd’s The Volume network by signing up to join ESPN First Take.
“When FS1 lost Shannon Sharpe, it definitely pierced our network,” he said on a recent episode of his show.
“But I remember telling my team that we will do whatever it takes to get the money to hire Shannon Sharpe.
“And it’s been good for everyone. He wins, we win.

“I remember telling people that it just doesn’t happen.
“This is basically Matt Stafford on the market and the Rams get him.
“Jim Harbaugh is on the market, you hire him to be your coach.”
And Cowherd revealed his desperation to close the deal.
He laughed: “I thought, do I need to buy him a Range Rover?
“I didn’t know, it’s like he’s a Hall of Famer, what do I do?
“So I didn’t want to interfere in his life, so I had to wait about three weeks before making an offer.
Shannon Sharpe’s playing career
Shannon Sharpe was a three-time Super Bowl champion before his career in heavy media.
The former tight end played in the NFL from 1990 to 2003 – mainly for the Denver Broncos.
He was part of the 1998 and 1999 Super Bowl championship teams, as well as the 2001 Baltimore Ravens title-winning team.
Sharpe was an eight-time Pro Bowler and voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
He finished with 10,060 yards on 815 receptions and 62 touchdowns.
The former NFL star has had an equally strong career on television screens since retiring.

Sharpe’s podcast has been going from strength to strength lately.
He recently had over 68 million views on his interview with Katt Williams.
This made it the most watched interview in You Tube history.
Sharpe also spoke openly about how difficult it was to leave Undisputed and how much it hurt him.
