NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes can add another accolade to his growing list of achievements.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was named the NFL’s highest-paid star by marketing revenue last year.

Mahomes earned a whopping $3.6 million in group licensing and marketing revenue during the 12 months through February, according to the NFL Players Association.

The Chiefs quarterback was followed on the exclusive list by Philadelphia Eagles star Jalen Hurts ($2.7 million) and Buffalo Bills counterpart Josh Allen ($2.5 million). by Sportico.

Mahomes’ teammate Travis Kelce has also seen a huge boost in marketing revenue thanks to his newfound global fame since dating pop star Taylor Swift.

Kelce earned $2.4 million in group marketing revenue last year, representing an incredible 177% increase compared to the previous 12 months.

His new rise to fame wasn’t enough to put him in the top three.

Earnings come from group licensing deals negotiated through the NFLPA, such as video games, t-shirts and trading cards.

In addition to royalty checks from the NFLPA, Mahomes earns more than $20 million a year from partners including Adidas, Coors Light, State Farm and Subway.

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey also benefited from his Super Bowl run, earning $1.7 million, placing him 12th overall.

It was three times more than the previous year, when he played for the Carolina Panthers.

Meanwhile, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy pocketed $710,619, which is almost as much as his $870,000 annual NFL salary.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers still managed to cash in despite only playing four snaps in the 2023 season.

Rodgers grossed $1.6 million in licensing revenue.

Former NFL stars Peyton Manning and Rob Gronkowski also maintained their marketing powers despite retiring from the league.

Manning came in seventh overall with $2.1 million, double his earnings from the previous year, while Gronkowski came in 10th with $1.9 million.

Interestingly, New England Patriots legend Tom Brady only received $651,938 in payments.

Brady has been one of the biggest licensing earners in his career, including $9.5 million and $6.8 million over the last two years.

What is Patrick Mahomes’ salary?

Patrick Mahomes earns a salary of $46 million per season.

In 2020, Mahomes signed a 10-year, $450 million salary with the Kansas City Chiefs.

However, he adjusted his contract to help with the Chiefs’ salary cap.

The newly restructured deal will create $21.6 million in salary cap space, according to ESPN Adam Schefter.

Mahomes reworked his contract in 2021 when he signed up to earn $208.1 million between 2023 and 2026.

This allowed the Chiefs to keep Mahomes’ teammate Travis Kelce for the next two years.

Being well aware of Kelce’s new deal, Mahomes said, “I told y’all I’m never letting him leave!! Congratulations my man!”
