SAN Francisco 49ers star Deebo Samuel offers his support to teammate Brandon Aiyuk as he continues contract negotiations.
Aiyuk is holding out on minicamp in hopes of securing a new long-term contract, with the wide receiver in the final year of his rookie deal with the 49ers.

Samuel himself is well versed in such situations. Two years ago, he postponed training camp and even requested a trade before signing a three-year contract extension worth $73.5 million.
For missing minicamp, Aiyuk will receive fines of more than $100,000 in three days.
Reporters asked Samuel what kind of advice he was giving Aiyuk at that moment.
“As much as I can,” said Samuel.
“I know this is a stressful time and he has done a tremendous job throughout his career here, and when it comes to things like this, it gets difficult.
“Some things you take personally and overall it’s just a stressful process, to be honest with you.”
Head coach Kyle Shanahan was also asked about Aiyuk’s status this week.
“These things take time and everything, but right now, especially with guys in practice, minicamp stuff, I don’t ask anything about it,” Shanahan said.

“Some guys come because they want to avoid a fine, and others don’t.
“But regardless, nothing changes when these guys arrive. We know what the process is. We know what the commercial part is.
“That’s how they decide how they want to handle this week.”
Aiyuk has been with the 49ers since being drafted 25th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.
He was certainly a key man for the 49ers in the 2023 season as they came so close to glory.
The 26-year-old recorded a career-high 1,342 yards on 75 receptions that included seven touchdowns.
