The new format will launch at 8pm ET on Friday, December 20th with the first of four First Round games, as revealed by PCP.

The remaining three will be played the following day, at 12pm, 4pm and 8pm.

These games will be played at the stadium of the higher ranked team.

As for the four top-seeded conference champions, they will make their quarterfinal debut after a bye.

The first Playoff Quarterfinals, the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl, will be held on New Year’s Eve at 7:30 p.m.

On New Year’s Day, the remaining three quarterfinals will take place, starting with the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl at 1 p.m.

The Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Finally, the Allstate Sugar Bowl will begin at 8:45 p.m.

The national championship game will be held at the home of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Monday, January 20 at 7:30 p.m.

This will be the second time Mercedes-Benz Stadium has hosted a National Championship, having also hosted Alabama’s overtime triumph over Georgia in 2018.

It was this final game that proved controversial among some fans of X, formerly known as Twitter.

“I don’t understand why college national championships in basketball and football are on Monday nights,” one fan tweeted.

College Football Changing in 2024

The move of Oklahoma and Texas from the Big 12 to the SEC is one of the biggest changes in college football in recent memory.

And that set off a chain reaction that left the Pac-12 conference decimated.

The Pac-12 has lost 10 of its 12 members and is down to just Oregon and Washington states.

Four of those teams are headed to the Big 12 – Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah.

Four others go to the Big 10 – Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington.

And the other two teams, California and Stanford, will participate in the ACC conference.

No team has left the SEC, Big Ten or ACC.

“Why is natty still on Monday???? Play Saturday night at 6!!!!!!!!” said a second.

“January 20th!!!! Are you guys busy from December 1st to December 20th? Do you need to take this off?” asked another.

“Why is it on Monday that you have Saturday all year round? Saturday afternoon is a big party. Monday is watching from bed.”

The first two First Round games on December 21 will be available to watch on TNT, which has agreed to sublicense select games from ESPN in May.

In addition to these two, all other games will be available on ESPN – with ABC also broadcasting the first and last games of the First Round.
