PHILADELPHIA Eagles head of security Dom DiSandro was promoted following a viral fight he had with an NFL player in 2023.

DiSandro, also known as “Big Dom,” has gained a new role that could make it difficult for the NFL to “discipline” him following an incident he suffered with the San Francisco 49ers last season.

The Eagles officially announced Thursday, among other personnel changes, that they put DiSandro in charge of “game day training operations.”

Previously, he was a senior advisor to the general manager and director of security.

DiSandro will continue in his current role as well as lead the team’s game-day training operations.

According to The Philadelphia Inquisitorhe will supervise head coach Nick Sirianni’s coaches on game days.

The Inquirer also reported that his addition to the position “was likely intended to prevent the league from being able to discipline him should there be another episode paralleling his involvement.”

The newspaper referred to the sideline altercation DiSandro was involved in during a December Eagles game with the San Francisco 49ers.

Eagles wide receiver Devonta Smith was tackled to the ground by 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw, which led to a scuffle between the two franchises.

DiSandro got in the middle of the players and touched Greenlaw, who then hit him in the face.

Both Greenlaw and DiSandro were ejected from the game.

DiSandro was suspended for the rest of the regular season and a $100,000 fine that the Eagles reportedly paid.

Philadelphia made it 1-4 during halftime when DiSandro was not allowed to sit out.

He managed to return to the playoffs, but the Eagles lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the Wild Card round.

It’s unclear how DiSandro’s title will help him avoid punishment in the future should he be involved in an altercation similar to the one he was involved in last season.

DiSandro will enter his 26th season with the Philadelphia team.
