AARON Rodgers missed mandatory minicamp with the New York Jets because he is on vacation, according to FS1’s Colin Cowherd.

It was revealed this week by Jets coach Robert Saleh that Rodgers gave notice in advance of his absence for an “event” but would still face fines under the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement.

Cowherd cleared up any mystery surrounding Rodgers’ whereabouts, saying he is on vacation now.

“Why bullshit? An event?” Cowherd said. “I was told last night from a source I trust that Aaron is on vacation and is abroad.

“Don’t be surprised. This is what you would expect.

“Impulsive owner, new GM, coach with a losing record, prickly, older, sometimes arrogant and disconnected quarterback in New York City with a pretty ruthless and arguably massive press core.”

Cowherd also said more details about Rodgers’ vacation would be released soon.

“I’m told you’ll know where he is tomorrow,” he said. “I don’t want to burn my fountain [but] I’m told you’ll learn about it tomorrow.

“Maybe he’s at an event. [I] I can’t believe there’s something overseas that would take seven, eight, nine days. Then again, maybe they’ll have a music festival.”

Saleh confirmed this week that he knew Rodgers would not be present at minicamp.

“Aaron and I talked before the OTAs started,” Saleh said.

“He’s been really good at communicating.

“He was here the whole time. There’s no excuse, but he had an event that was very important to him – that he communicated.”

Linebacker Haason Reddick, who is in contract extension negotiations with the Jets, was another unexcused absence for New York on Tuesday.

Much is expected of Rodgers and the Jets after the immense 2023 injury.

“I loved it. I love it,” Rodgers said. “We are must-see TV. This is pretty obvious – everyone knows it.

Whether you love me or hate me, people want to see me play.

“They like watching me play. We are a team to watch this year.

“Six primetime games in the first 11 or 12 weeks. I loved it.”
