STEPHEN A. Smith wasn’t happy with his First Take co-hosts’ outfits on Thursday.
First Take featured several guests throughout the show, but Stephen A. was offended when one of them sat next to Molly Qerim.
Kimberly Martin appeared on the show during an NFL segment to talk about Aaron Rodgers.
Martin wore a deep purple dress during her appearance alongside Qerim, Stephen A and Robert Griffin III.
Beside her in the New York studios, Qerim wore a vibrant pink suit.
Stephen A. thought his co-hosts took too much inspiration from their previous outfits and called them out for it.
He also invented a new nickname for Martin while berating his co-hosts.
“All Purple Rain had to do was say he agreed with me first,” Stephen A. said.
“Number two, both Purple Rain and Molly wore colors that I rocked last week.
“I’m just saying. We can move on.”

A smile appeared on Stephen A’s face as he watched the show descend into chaos with Qerim and Martin defending their outfit choices.
Qerim did his best to yell at Stephen A. to get his points across.
“Stephen A. there are a certain number of colors in the rainbow,” shouted Qerim.
As she tried to defend herself, Stephen A. sneakily sent the show to a commercial to interrupt her.
“It’s about time we went to commercial,” he said.
“I can’t hear you Molly, we have to go to commercial.”
First look at the numbers
First Take has grown from strength to strength under the guidance of Stephen A. Smith and Molly Qerim over the past year.
ESPN’s weekday debate show averaged 496,000 viewers in 2023 – making it the most-watched year in the program’s history.
Its December average of 611,000 represented a 24% annual increase compared to 2022.
The show has also recorded more than 250 million views on YouTube.
First Take was helped by the addition of Shannon Sharpe alongside Smith and Qerim after he left Fox Sports’ Undisputed.
Despite Stephen A’s disdain for her outfits, fans shared their usual love for Qerim’s style on social media.
“@MollyQerim just beautiful this morning,” said one fan.
“Hope you have a great day Molly,” said another fan.
“Beautiful,” said a third fan.
