NFL insider Albert Breer has taken the mystery surrounding Aaron Rodgers’ whereabouts to another level.

The Sports Illustrated reporter offered a cryptic answer when asked where the 40-year-old New York Jets star was missing from the team’s mandatory two-day minicamp this week.

Breer, 44, discussed Rodgers’ absence in a recent appearance on Rich Eisen’s program.

And while he apparently knew why the four-time NFL MVP was missing, the source hardly made the situation any clearer.

“The best I can answer right now is that I feel solid,” Breer said.

“It’s just that he’s somewhere that they couldn’t excuse and maintain credibility with the rest of the locker room, but it would be expected, it wouldn’t be an out of the ordinary thing for him.

“So you can open your mind, so to speak, as he has been known to open his mind at times, to all the possibilities that this can create.”

Breer said Jets coach Robert Salah, his staff and New York’s front office have been “informed” of Rodgers’ upcoming absence.

The source added that the 10-time Pro Bowler has been a “very engaged member of the offseason program,” being much more involved than he was during his final year with the Green Bay Packers.

The report comes after Fox Sports host Colin Cowherd said the QB was on vacation outside the US.

“Why bullshit? An event?” Cowherd said.

“I was told last night from a source I trust that Aaron is on vacation and is abroad.

“Don’t be surprised. This is what you would expect.

“Impulsive owner, new GM, coach with a losing record, prickly, older, sometimes arrogant and disconnected quarterback in New York City with a pretty ruthless and arguably massive press core.”

On Tuesday, Salah said Rodgers missed minicamp because of an event that was “important to him”.

“Aaron and I talked before the OTAs started,” Saleh said.

“He’s been really good at communicating.

“He was here the whole time. There’s no excuse, but he had an event that was very important to him – that he communicated.”

Salah confirmed that Rodgers’ absence was “unjustified”, meaning he could be subject to a fine.

Rodgers was traded to the Jets in April 2023 along with Green Bay’s 2023 first- and fifth-round draft picks in exchange for New York’s first-, second- and sixth-round picks.

He missed most of the 2023 season with an Achilles injury, which he suffered four plays in his Jets debut.

The veteran quarterback entered the offseason OTAs without any limitations.
