DALLAS Cowboys legend Michael Irvin revealed his wife is in the early stages of a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Former NFL star Irvin, 58, has been married to Sandy, 58, for 34 years.
He said his wife has been fighting the disease for five or six years.
Irvin says he refuses to place his wife in a nursing home and has instead hired a nanny for Sandy.
“If anyone has earned the right to stay in their house, MY WIFE HAS IT!!!” Michael told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
“That I will honor. Whatever it takes.”
The couple has been together since the 1980s, after meeting at the University of Miami.
They married in 1990 and have remained happily married for decades.
The best wishes for Irvin came from across the NFL world.
