SAN Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk appears to want a trade away from his team.
The 49ers wide receiver has been adamant about receiving a pay raise or a trade with the team.
It was reported on Tuesday that the 49ers had a trade to send Aiyuk to the Washington Commanders during the NFL Draft, but ultimately decided against it.
Aiyuk took to social media to react to these reports with a cryptic comment on Instagram.
“But I thought the Niners would never try to trade me?” He wrote.
Niners general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan had previously admitted they shopped around Aiyuk, but never indicated any type of deal was done.
The indecision is clearly upsetting the wide receiver, as he was recently seen on Instagram Live with Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels talking about the situation.
“They said they don’t want me back,” Aiyuk said in the video.
It’s unclear if he’s indicating they want to trade him or if they’re not going to fire him, but Aiyuk is clearly fed up.
ESPN’s Ryan Clark revealed some information on NFL Live about a meeting Aiyuk called with the 49ers regarding his contract situation.

“Brandon Aiyuk told us he wanted to set up this meeting himself,” Clark said.
“And when he was sitting with [us]he said he is taking these negotiations personally.
“The way they negotiated with him, the way they told him why he’s worth what he’s worth, that touched him.
“He says he wants to be in San Francisco first, but he feels comfortable playing elsewhere if that’s something the San Francisco 49ers are willing to do via trade.
“And I’ll tell you something: When he sat down with us, he didn’t come into the room alone. First, it was Brandon Aiyuk. In second place was Jayden Daniels.
“I’m not a tea leaf reader, but it looks like Aiyuk wouldn’t mind playing in Washington.”
It’s not hard to understand why Aiyuk is frustrated with his team.
Last year, he caught 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns, establishing himself as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL.
In four seasons he has 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns, and has yet to secure another contract.
Aiyuk is playing on his fifth-year option, which will pay him just $14 million in 2024.
By comparison, Jaylen Waddle just signed an $85 million extension and has been in the NFL for less than a year than Aiyuk.
It seems unlikely that the 49ers will let him walk without getting anything in return, so if a contract extension isn’t agreed upon, Aiyuk will likely be traded before the deadline this season.
