Mahomes and Kelce, who are vying for a three-peat in the Super Bowl, are preparing for the official start of training camp at Missouri Western State University.

It starts on July 20th and runs until August 15th.

The Chiefs’ first preseason game will be on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 10.

They then have back-to-back games at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs will face the Detroit Lions on August 17th before hosting the Chicago Bears on August 22nd.

Because AFC teams will have one more road game than at home in 2024, all conference teams will play two of their three exhibition games at home.

The Super Bowl champion will kick off the NFL season by hosting the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, September 5, in a nationally televised game on NBC.

Amid parties and trips to Europe, Mahomes and Kelce recently participated in a mandatory minicamp at the Chiefs’ practice facility, a key milestone for the 2024 season.

“I think everyone is very motivated to maintain the mentality we had last year,” Kelce said later.

“We don’t get to ‘back to back’ by always talking about ‘back to back’.

“We got there trying to figure out the best way to improve from last week. I think that mentality is key.”

Meanwhile, Mahomes showed he has a new trick up his sleeve during organized practices.

The Chiefs quarterback threw a incredible back pass for rookie running back Carson Steele.

And Steele completed the move with a catch of his own.

Mahomes has yet to use the maneuver in an NFL game, despite using a number of unexpected passes in his career.

And the three-time Super Bowl champion admits he’s too nervous to do it – even though coach Andy Reid wants him to try it.

“I don’t think we played well enough offensively for me to be able to pass behind the back last year,” Mahomes said on the Fox Sports show. First things first.

“But it’s no one’s fault but myself, because Coach Reid wants me to take this behind my back more than anyone in the world.

“And then he deliberately makes plays so that I have the opportunity to throw the ball behind my back.

“So it’s not a coaching thing. It’s me who doesn’t have that confidence to do that in a game.”
