Fight night was Rodgers’ first public appearance since his unexcused absence from Jets camp.

Rodgers attended the fight with his former teammate Marcedes Lewis in a crowd of 18,881 fans.

The Jets quarterback was reportedly on a trip to Egypt during his absence from training camp.

Former teammate Marquez Valdes-Scantling explained that Rodgers returned to work at The Herd with Colin Cowherd on FS1.

“Me and Aaron have been great friends since I was in Green Bay. I talked to him and told him I was coming to L.A. and said, ‘Let’s do some routes,’” Valdes-Scantling said.

“So we went in. We went to a high school and did some routes together.

“They were good. It was good.”

Presenter Jason McIntyre then got excited about Rodgers’ return to the US.

“All New York media outlets can back off,” he said.

“Aaron Rodgers is back from Egypt! It’s no longer a secret!”

Before it became known that Rodgers was in Egypt, Jets coach Robert Saleh simply explained it as an “unexcused absence.”

However, Saleh downplayed the severity of the absence at a press conference.

“Aaron and I are on the exact same page,” Saleh said.

“There is no problem between Aaron [and me] or your teammates, for that matter.

“We address this [Tuesday]. It’s more of a problem for everyone outside the building than inside. That’s about it.”

Some claimed that Rodgers’ behavior was hypocritical, as he has previously stated that non-football distractions need to be removed from the team.

“Anything we’re doing in this building that has nothing to do with winning needs to be evaluated,” Rodgers said in January.

“Everything we do has to have a purpose… the shit that has nothing to do with winning has to leave the building.”

A few months later, he skipped minicamp with his teammates.
