Now, he faces the difficult task of managing Philadelphia’s salary cap.

NFL analyst Chris Kouffman says Eagles brass have racked up $300 million in future salary cap debt.

This money has already been paid by the franchise, but it does not affect current limit calculations.

The NFL’s current annual salary cap is $255.4 million.

Philadelphia’s future success is the biggest in football – $40 million ahead of the New Orleans Saints, who have the second most.

The cap increases by $30.6 million in 2024, but Eagles executives will need to get creative.

Eagles writers say Roseman is known for his “financial gymnastics” and his reputation will be put to the test.

The Eagles had a major offseason overhaul with Saquon Barkley (three years, $37.5 million), Bryce Huff (three years, $51.5 million) and safety CJ Gardner-Johnson (three years, $33 million), all arriving via free agency.

Guard Landon Dickerson (four years, $84 million), tackle Jordan Mailata (three years, $66 million), kicker Jake Elliott (four years, $24 million), wide receiver DeVonta Smith (three years , $75 million) and wide receiver AJ Brown (three years, $75 million). years, US$96 million) all agreed extensions.

But Roseman’s biggest task will be replacing retired center Jason Kelce.

“How do you replace a guy like that?” asked Pat McAfee Show co-host AJ Hawk about Kelce.

“Can you talk a little bit about what he really meant to that franchise and to the people there and everything about that, because this guy is just… a real gem.

“He seems like someone that I feel, from every corner of the Earth, you have to love this guy.”

“The best and you can’t replace that,” Roseman responded.

“And I think it would be false to pretend that we are going to replace Jason Kelce.

“The person and the player. And I want to say that this is the first HOFer vote, on and off the field.

“And so, I think for us we have to continue to build the team. It’s the best team game to understand that he is a big loss.”

Guard Cam Jurgens is ready to fill center for the Eagles and knows the size of the task ahead.

“It’s a little weird — Kelce is gone and they moved my locker to his,” Jurgens admitted during preseason workouts.

“Obviously this is a bit strange and I ended up in the wrong locker a few times. I’m like, ‘Oh, man. This isn’t mine anymore.’

“So, it’s getting used to things and it’s fun to come back here and get into the swing of things.”
