The Ravens QB has filed two appeals to the trademark office against FL101, a company that lists Aikman as one of its directors.

FL101 has made nine trademark applications for the use of ‘Eight’ on a range of products including beer, beach towels and energy drinks.

The appeals claim that Jackson “spent considerable time, effort and expense in promoting, advertising and popularizing the number 8 in connection with his personality and fame.”

The Ravens star’s attorney argued that Aikman’s company’s products are “highly similar in sound, appearance, connotation and commercial impression” to Jackson’s trademarks.

Aikman, a former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, launched the light beer brand EIGHT in January 2022.

Fox NFL star Jimmy Johnson ‘was more upset than ever,’ says Dallas Cowboys icon and ESPN broadcaster Troy Aikman

The brand was initially sold in Texas when it was launched.

“If we go beyond the borders of Texas, we will all be excited because that means there is need and demand outside of the state,” Aikman told CNBC.

Since February, the brand has been for sale in Oklahoma, where he played college football.

“This beer is really for those people who work hard, so it’s only natural that we’re here in Oklahoma,” Aikman said.

“I truly love this state. So much of who I am and what I am was shaped during my time at Oklahoma and I learned the value of hard work and the rewards of it.”
