Shannon Sharpe’s playing career

Shannon Sharpe was a three-time Super Bowl champion before his career in heavy media.

The former tight end played in the NFL from 1990 to 2003 – mainly for the Denver Broncos.

He was part of the 1998 and 1999 Super Bowl championship teams, as well as the 2001 Baltimore Ravens title-winning team.

Sharpe was an eight-time Pro Bowler and voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He finished with 10,060 yards on 815 receptions and 62 touchdowns.

The former NFL star has had an equally strong career on television screens since retiring.

Sharpe praised the Los Angeles Lakers star after the game.

“I think we got our answer on who will throw the last shot IF* the U.S. men’s national team loses[sic] a basket?” he posted on X.

“Guess he’s not too old after all. #GOATJAMES #OlympicPrep #WeWinningGold.”

James was named Team USA flag bearer at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony on Friday.

“It is an incredible honor to represent the United States on this global stage, especially at a time that can unite the entire world,” the 20-time NBA All-Star said in a statement.

“For a kid from Akron, this responsibility means everything, not just to me, but to my family, all the kids in my hometown, my teammates, other Olympians and so many people across the country with high aspirations.

“Sport has the power to unite us all and I am proud to be part of this important moment.”
