NFL star George Kittle experienced an epic body transformation during the offseason after losing 30 pounds — before gaining it all back.

The San Francisco 49ers tight end’s weight plummeted to 214 pounds after he was unable to exercise following shoulder surgery.

But Kittle returned to 49ers training camp this week at 243 pounds, thanks to a strict diet and weightlifting regimen.

“I recovered,” Kittle told reporters.

“I usually play the whole season around 242 to 245 and I got back to 243 last week, so I was excited about that, the weight came back.

“It was a bit of a strange off-season because I wasn’t able to train like I usually train, a lot of it was recovery.

“I managed, through the OTAs, June and July, to get back to the rhythm I want to get back to.

“I feel ready to start training camp.”

Kittle detailed why he lost so much weight so quickly.

“If I’m not working out, I lose weight really quickly,” Kittle said.

“I had that AC thing on my shoulder at the Super Bowl. After the surgery, I was unable to do any type of lifting.

“So basically I didn’t do much for several weeks, so I lost a lot of weight.

“But after I got back in the gym and was able to restart it, I got back to 230 decently and gained 10 pounds in the last four to six weeks.

“So I feel good about that.”

The five-time Pro Bowler recently revealed the extent to which the 2023 season has taken a toll on his body.

At the Working with the boys podcast, he revealed that following the 49ers’ Super Bowl LVIII loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, he had to deal with several injuries.

Along with a torn collateral ligament in his big toe and a core injury, Kittle said he also refracted a rib during the Super Bowl.

Kittle said that although his “shoulders had been messed up since high school,” during the Super Bowl he aggravated the situation, leaving him with a sprained AC and a chipped bone.

“I couldn’t get up,” Kittle said.

“I couldn’t do any upper body because of my shoulder and ribs, and I couldn’t do the lower body [body] because of my central surgery…

“I didn’t get out of the Super Bowl until almost mid-March.

“I spent a month doing nothing. I wasn’t supposed to do anything…

“My anxiety levels were really high.”

Kittle added that with his shoulder now “almost healed,” he is once again able to throw a football.

“It’s like a kid getting hit in the head and you wake up with a superpower,” Kittle joked.
