CBS announces major broadcast shake-up for 2024 NFL season, with new broadcast teams confirmed following Matt Ryan’s job change

CBS Sports has confirmed its announcer lineup for the 2024 NFL season.

The network was forced to make a change after former NFL MVP Matt Ryan left the booth.

Ryan will become a regular on The NFL Today, joining James Brown, Bill Cowher, Nate Burleson and JJ Watt.

Jonathan Jones will work as the show’s main informant.

“Excited to join @JBsportscaster, @nateburleson, @CowherCBS and @JJWatt in the NFL today! @NFLonCBS,” Ryan tweeted after his addition was announced.

The team will be without Boomer Esiason, who first appeared on the show in 2002.

Phil Simms also left the lineup after seven years in charge.

Their departures occurred after the end of their respective contracts.

As for the broadcast booth, Ryan’s place will be taken by Jason McCourty, as per CBS.

He held a part-time role as an analyst for the first time in 2023.

The Super Bowl champion and former Good Morning Football host will work alongside Andrew Catalon and Tiki Barber.

They will be joined by reporter AJ Ross, while Chris Lewis will also join the team on occasion.

Elsewhere, things will remain unchanged with Tony Romo and Jim Nantz set to continue as the lead team along with Tracy Wolfson.

Ian Eagle and Charles Davis will also return along with reporter Evan Washburn.

Kevin Harlan and Trent Green are back alongside Melanie Collins.

August 1 – Hall of Fame Game – Houston Texans vs. Chicago Bears

August 8th – start of pre-season

August 27 – Deadline for 53-player rosters

September 1st – Last day of pre-season

September 5th – season opener – Baltimore Ravens x Kansas City Chiefs

November 5th – Negotiation deadline

January 5th – Week 18 of the regular season

January 11th – start of playoffs

February 9 – Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, Louisiana

As do Spero Dedes and Adam Archuleta, with Aditi Kinkhabwala covering the latest on the pitch.

The final team of Tom McCarthy, Jay Feely and Ross Tucker will feature multiple reporters throughout the season.

Beth Mowins is also scheduled to call plays in some games.

While Amanda Balionis, Tiffany Blackmon and Amanda Guerra will also report on various games.

CBS’ next NFL broadcast will take place in Week 3 of the preseason when the Denver Broncos host the Arizona Cardinals.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 pm ET on August 25th.
