Despite his credentials, Mahomes wasn’t even the highest-ranked quarterback in the league’s controversial rankings.

The NFL revealed on Friday he was ranked 4th on the list ahead of the upcoming 2024 season.

The league’s reigning MVP, Lamar Jackson, was in second place, taking over as the league’s best defender.

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey beat out Mahomes for the top three despite missing QB in Super Bowl LVIII in February.

Former Chiefs wide receiver and former Mahomes target Tyreek Hill walked away with the coveted first place spot.

The list was met with incredulity from some NFL fans, who took to social media to complain.

“In what world is Mahomes not number 1?” replied one on X.

“This invalidates the entire list,” gasped another.

“All the players ranked above him on this list have one thing in common…they all lost to Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs,” commented a third.

“That must be a misprint,” a fourth added.

“His rank is lower than the number of rings he has,” laughed a fifth.

Drafted with the 10th overall pick in 2017, Mahomes has become a star since taking over as the starter at Arrowhead Stadium.

He is a six-time Pro Bowler and twice led the NFL in passing touchdowns.

Mahomes has put up impressive numbers in 2023 despite throwing to a receiving corps plagued by drops.

Patrick Mahomes Endorsements

Patrick Mahomes earns more than $50 million per season from his contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

But the superstar quarterback also profits from his brand off the field.

Mahomes has a reported net worth of $70 million.

And that’s largely due to some of the brands he endorses.

The Chiefs star is the face of Adidas in the United States and appears in State Farm commercials.

He also appears in advertisements for Subway and Head and Shoulders.

Mahomes also became the face of the Prime energy drink, owned by Logan Paul and KSI.

He threw for 4,183 yards in 16 regular-season games and rushed for a career-high 389 yards.

The 28-year-old came alive during the postseason, throwing for another 1,051 yards and 6 touchdowns while leading the Chiefs to back-to-back Super Bowl titles.

Meanwhile, Hill left the Chiefs in 2022 to join the Miami Dolphins.

Since then, the speedster has established himself as the league’s most explosive outfield threat.

Hill led the league last season in receiving yards with 1,799, bringing in 13 touchdowns.

Both his receptions (119) and total yards were Dolphins franchise records.
