Stephanie Sparks dead at 50 with Golf Channel host’s cause of death and former LPGA star’s death unknown

FORMER golfer and sports presenter Stephanie Sparks died aged 50 last week.

Sparks played on the LPGA and also represented the US national team in the Curtis Cup.

She was the host of Golf Channel’s Big Break for several years.

Sparks died on April 13, 2024, according to your obituary.

The cause of her death is currently unknown.

The former golfer was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, and last lived in Orlando, Florida.

Sparks was an All-American college golfer at Duke and won several amateur titles.

She turned professional, but had to end her career early due to back injuries.

According to his obituary, a private family service will be held at a funeral home in the Elm Grove neighborhood of his hometown.

Stephanie advocated for palliative care in the last years of her life.

She supported a breast cancer foundation in Orlando.

Her Big Break co-host Tom Abbott said: “She was a professional golfer herself.

“So she knew what it was like for the contestants and wanted them to be successful.

“She kind of controlled their emotions when we were doing the show.

“She knew how hard it was.”

Tributes poured in for Stephanie and her family on her obituary page.

One person wrote: “I went to Wheeling Park with Stephanie. She was an incredible person with a wonderful heart.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.”

Another posted: “To the Sparks family, thoughts and prayers to you all on your loss.

“I am in shock and disbelief at this terrible news.

“Steph was a huge part of my childhood and every memory I have of her is a fond memory.

“I am very proud to be able to say that I have been friends for many years.

“Steph made her dreams come true and I was always so happy for her.

“Truly, a wonderful person. God bless.”
