RORY McILROY has filed for divorce from wife Erica Stoll after seven years of marriage.
The 35-year-old golf ace filed documents with a court in Florida on Monday, according to TMZ.
The reasons for the divorce between McIlroy and Erica, 36, who welcomed daughter Poppy in 2020, have not been disclosed.
But it comes just days before the four-time Major winner, worth an estimated £200 million, competes in the PGA Championship in Kentucky.
McIlroy and American beauty Erica met in 2011 when she was working for the PGA at the Ryder Cup as the championship’s volunteer operations manager.
A year later, the Northern Irishman arrived late for the course after his alarm failed to go off.
And Erica arranged a police escort for McIlroy, allowing him to tee off on time as Team Europe completed the ‘Miracle in Medinah’.
At that time, he was dating tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, and the two later became engaged.
But after they canceled their wedding plans and split in 2014, McIlroy and Erica began dating in 2015.
The couple kept their relationship low-key.

Inside Rory McIlroy’s turbulent love life

By Ciaran Wiseman
Rory McIlroy had a high-profile romance with former tennis world number one Caroline Wozniacki before their split in 2014.
The following year, the golf ace began dating Erica Stoll, whom he met on the PGA Tour in 2011.
Erica frequently interacted with players through her role as volunteer operations manager for the PGA Championship.
She even saved McIlroy from losing his playing time at the 2012 Ryder Cup after some confusion over the time zone.
The incident began a strong friendship between the two, four years before their relationship turned romantic.
McIlroy and Erica were spotted on a series of dates in Rochester, New York in the early days of their relationship.
Just eight months later, the couple got engaged in Paris and walked down the aisle at Ashford Castle in Ireland in 2017.
The pair then welcomed daughter Poppy into the world three years later.
Throughout their time together, McIlroy and Erica kept their relationship to themselves, with the golfer keen to shield his family from cameras while filming Netflix documentary series Full Swing.
However, after seven years of marriage, McIlroy filed for divorce from Erica.
The reasons for the divorce were not disclosed, but the Northern Irishman filed documents with a Florida court.
