RORY MCILROY has come a long way from his modest childhood home in Belfast.

The PGA Tour star, 35, owns a huge 12,800 sq ft mansion in Florida, bought for £7.6 million from legendary PGA star Ernie Els – and he still shares it with his wife Erica Stoll, despite the recent bombshell announcement about your divorce.

McIlroy moved to the golf capital of the world – Jupiter, Florida – after selling his former mansion for around £9 million.

He bought his new apartment at The Bear’s Club, a golf resort founded by Jack Nicklaus in 1999 and located 85 miles north of Miami.

And the luxury property was in well-known hands before McIlroy moved in, having previously been owned by Els.

The incredible neighborhood was once home to basketball legend Michael Jordan, tennis royalty Serena and Venus Williams, as well as fellow golfers Luke Donald, Michelle Wie and Els.

ONE PAD EL

And somehow McIlroy got even more bathrooms.

The massive property spans 12,800 square feet and features seven bedrooms and TEN bathrooms.

A huge balcony at the back of the property overlooks a tranquil pool.

Inside, McIlroy has everything a young billionaire could want, with a recording studio, games room, gigantic pool and home cinema.

But it’s a long way from where he grew up.

FAMILY HOME

Parents Gerry and Rosie raised McIlroy in the family’s four-bedroom home in Holywood, Northern Ireland.

It was adapted by Gerry into what would be a young aspiring golfer’s dream.

A trampoline could be found in the garden, but it was hidden behind a gigantic putting green.

Step into the garage and McIlroy, the 2014 Open champion, will have his own golf simulator.

Father Gerry had transformed the space into a studio where a young, curly-haired McIlroy could study his swing and batting with two televisions hooked up to the system.

And, when I wanted to put this into practice, Holywood Golf was just a 20-minute walk from the house.

FIRST-TIME BUYER

When McIlroy moved the family home, it wasn’t a typical property for a first-time buyer.

McIlroy bought Robinhall House in Moneyreagh, County Down, which is now worth around £3 million.

Now there was no need for a golf simulator as McIlroy had his own practice range, placing a huge green practice area complete with seven bunkers on the 14-acre property.

For leisure, there was a cinema, an outdoor hot tub, a lake with 1,200 trout and a large tennis court where he could play with his then-girlfriend and former world number 1, Caroline Wozniacki.

McIlroy sold the property in 2013 for around £2.5 million while traveling to America.

AMERICAN DREAM

McIlroy’s US move saw the four-time major winner treat himself to a stunning Florida mansion.

The Palm Beach Gardens apartment had six bedrooms, a gym, an outdoor pool and, of course, a putting green.

A large living area led to a relaxing patio with sofas situated by the pool.

The mansion was designed so that water met the side of the house and ran into a reservoir.

Between the NINE Bathrooms is the master bedroom’s private bathroom, which has a spa bath in the center of the room.

A private gym had a full weight training section, bicycle, treadmill and a huge television screen on a wall mirror.

McIlroy could relax in a game room complete with pool table, which had huge sliding doors to the pool area.

However, he clearly wanted a change of scene and moved into Els’ old apartment.

SHOCK DIVORCE

But now McIlroy has to share his state-of-the-art apartment with soon-to-be ex-wife Stoll after filing divorce papers on Monday, just three days before the start of the PGA Championship.

The golfer’s representatives announced their desire to ensure the process is “as respectful and friendly as possible.”

According to The mailcourt documents state that their marriage was “irretrievably broken.”

Inside Rory McIlroy’s turbulent love life

By Ciaran Wiseman

Rory McIlroy had a high-profile romance with former tennis world number one Caroline Wozniacki before their split in 2014.

The following year, the golf ace began dating Erica Stoll, whom he met on the PGA Tour in 2011.

Erica frequently interacted with players through her role as volunteer operations manager for the PGA Championship.

She even saved McIlroy from losing his playing time at the 2012 Ryder Cup after some confusion over the time zone.

The incident began a strong friendship between the two, four years before their relationship turned romantic.

McIlroy and Erica were spotted on a series of dates in Rochester, New York in the early days of their relationship.

Just eight months later, the couple got engaged in Paris and walked down the aisle at Ashford Castle in Ireland in 2017.

The pair then welcomed daughter Poppy into the world three years later.

Throughout their time together, McIlroy and Erica kept their relationship to themselves, with the golfer keen to shield his family from cameras while filming Netflix documentary series Full Swing.

However, after seven years of marriage, McIlroy filed for divorce from Erica.

The reasons for the divorce were not disclosed, but the Northern Irishman filed documents with a Florida court.
