GOLF star Scottie Sheffler has spoken out after being arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
This happened after he was handcuffed and placed in a police car outside the PGA Championship course.
The world’s number one golfer, 27, was detained by police outside the course after allegedly trying to pass officers on his way to the championship in Louisville.
Traffic was backed up for around a mile in both directions following an earlier fatal crash and it is understood Scheffler did not follow police orders.
Scheffler is said to have exited the car after a police officer threw himself into his vehicle and shouted at him to stop driving.
Speaking ahead of the second round of the Championship, he said there had been a “huge misunderstanding”.
