Live TV viewers of the PGA Championship were shocked after Golf Channel aired no coverage of Scottie Scheffler’s arrest.

On Friday morning, the world’s No. 1 golfer, Scheffler, was arrested by Louisville police while trying to beat traffic and attend the PGA Championship.

Scheffler was handcuffed in the back of a police car outside the Valhalla Golf Club after trying to get around a fatal car collision, for ESPN’s Jeff Darlington.

Reporter Darlington was live at the scene and covering the ongoing story.

However, Golf Channel was showing a replay of the first round of the LPGA Mizuho Americas Open.

Darlington has appeared on several ESPN programs including SportsCenter, Get Up and ESPN+ to discuss Scheffler and his situation.

But Golf Channel has not provided any updates on the status of the PGA Championship.

Fans were outraged that the media outlet did not provide details about Scheffler’s situation in Louisville.

“Does Golf Channel Know Scottie Scheffler Was Arrested?”. one wrote.

“ESPN showing the golf channel how the real networks handle event coverage,” said another.

“Tough morning for the Golf channel,” said a third.

Defending Masters champion Scheffler was released by police and prepared for his 10:08 a.m. ET departure time.

Still, the 27-year-old faces four charges, according to the police report.

Scheffler broke his silence following his arrest on his Instagram Story.

“This morning, I was proceeding as directed by the police officers,” he wrote. It was a very chaotic situation, which is understandable considering the tragic accident that had occurred earlier, and there was a huge misunderstanding about what I thought I was being asked for. to do.

“I never intended to disregard any of the instructions. I’m hoping to put that aside and focus on golf today.
