A GOLF fan was knocked out of his seat by an uncontrolled shot at the European Open.

Golfer Thriston Lawrence made a bad shot on the 15th hole during his final round of the tournament.

But he did not appear to shout “front” – the word that is used on golf courses to warn spectators that they may be in the line of fire.

As a result, the fan did not realize that the ball was coming towards him, was unable to avoid it and was knocked down.

Sky Sports Golf commentator Mark Roe was shocked by the incident and after the fan was hit he said: “Oh, no, no. No, no, no.”

Viewers were also unimpressed by the incident and took aim at Lawrence for his lack of care.

One of them reacted by saying: “I should have shouted there, unbelievable”.

Another added: “We have a top secret code we use when we play – “FORE!”.”

A third wrote: “Absolute joke you hit a golf ball and it’s heading towards someone and you don’t scream.”

And another commented: “So you become pro and don’t have to worry about golf etiquette ”
